U14 Qualification Tournament for the Regional League Saints Rockets had three tough games on Sunday to qualify for a chance to play in the new NSW U14 league. First up were Penryn. It took the squad a while to settle but once they did there was some awesome defence and great shooting. The Rockets took the game 25-6 The St Agnes game saw the Rockets off to a poor start. Too many errors in attack did not compensate for the amazing team defence. |
The squad trailed by four goals at half time. Moving Issy Hopkins from defence circle to attacking circle gave the team the impetus they needed. The ball now arrived time after time in Rosie Bartlett's hands which resulted in goal after goal. Final score a hard fought 20-16 to Saints. Next up were Storm who had yet to win a game in the tournament.
They meant business and took advantage of Saints unforced errors to take an early lead. Saints fought back hard and gradually took control of the game. Final score 25-14 to Saints. So 1st place.
The squad now travel to Clifton College Sports Ground, Bristol for the NSW U14 seeding tournament next Sunday.
They will be joined by second placed St Agnes.
